This Tom and Jerry drink is a classic, rich, and warming holiday cocktail, perfect for festive gatherings. It features a spiced batter mixed with brandy and rum, topped with hot milk.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large eggs, separated
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of allspice
  • 1/2 cup dark rum
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • Hot milk, for serving
  • Cinnamon sticks, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add 1/2 cup of the sugar to the egg yolks, beating until well combined and pale.
  3. Stir in the cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and allspice into the yolk mixture.
  4. In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gradually add the remaining 1/2 cup sugar to the egg whites, beating until glossy and firm.
  6. Gently fold the spiced egg yolk mixture into the beaten egg whites. This is your Tom and Jerry batter.
  7. To make a drink, place 2-3 tablespoons of the batter into a heatproof mug or glass.
  8. Add 1 ounce of dark rum and 1 ounce of brandy to the mug.
  9. Fill the mug with hot milk, stirring gently to combine.
  10. Garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • The batter can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the rum and brandy.
