A rich and warming hot cocoa with a festive alcoholic kick, perfect for Thanksgiving gatherings.
Ingredients

- 4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup bourbon or spiced rum
- Whipped cream and chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, whisk together milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is hot and steaming but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour into mugs.
- Add bourbon or spiced rum to each mug, stirring gently.
- Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of alcohol to your preference.
- For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the bourbon or rum.
- You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
