Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice berries

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large pot or slow cooker.
  2. Heat over medium heat until simmering, or on low in a slow cooker for 2-3 hours.
  3. Reduce heat to low and keep warm for serving.
  4. Strain out the spices and fruit before serving, if desired.
  5. Serve hot in mugs.

  • For a stronger spice flavor, gently crush the whole spices before adding.
  • You can adjust the amount of brown sugar to your sweetness preference.
