Description

Crispy popcorn chicken coated in a sweet and tangy orange glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, mixed with 2 teaspoons water
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, 1/4 cup cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip chicken pieces in beaten eggs, then dredge in the flour mixture.
  3. Press chicken into panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  5. In a saucepan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
  7. Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispy chicken, double-fry the pieces.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey.
  • Serve with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
