Description
A refreshing red, white, and blue layered slushy perfect for 4th of July celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups white sugar
- 3 cups water
- 1 (3 ounce) package cherry flavored gelatin mix
- 1 (3 ounce) package berry blue flavored gelatin mix
- 1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
- 1 (6 ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
- 2 liters carbonated lemon-lime beverage
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Divide sugar mixture in half. In one bowl, stir in cherry gelatin until dissolved. In another bowl, stir in berry blue gelatin until dissolved.
- Stir lemonade concentrate into the cherry mixture and limeade concentrate into the blue mixture.
- Pour each mixture into separate freezer-safe containers. Freeze for at least 8 hours, or until firm.
- To serve, scrape a layer of the red slush into a glass. Add a layer of the carbonated beverage. Then scrape a layer of the blue slush and add another layer of the carbonated beverage. Repeat layers as desired.
Notes
- Freeze the slush mixtures until very firm for best results.
- Use a fork to scrape the frozen mixtures into a slushy consistency.
- Adjust the amount of carbonated beverage to achieve your desired consistency.
