Description

A refreshing and festive sparkling cherry drink perfect for the 4th of July.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 4 cups sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine cherries, sugar, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until cherries soften and release their juices.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Strain the cherry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard solids.
  6. Stir in the lime juice.
  7. Fill glasses with ice.
  8. Pour about 1/4 cup of the cherry syrup into each glass.
  9. Top with sparkling water or club soda.
  10. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs.

Notes

  • Adjust sugar to your taste.
  • You can make the cherry syrup ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
