Description
A refreshing and festive sparkling cherry drink perfect for the 4th of July.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 4 cups sparkling water or club soda
- Ice
- Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- Combine cherries, sugar, and water in a saucepan.
- Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until cherries soften and release their juices.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Strain the cherry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard solids.
- Stir in the lime juice.
- Fill glasses with ice.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of the cherry syrup into each glass.
- Top with sparkling water or club soda.
- Garnish with fresh mint sprigs.
Notes
- Adjust sugar to your taste.
- You can make the cherry syrup ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
