Description

A simple recipe for tender pork cooked in a sweet and tangy brown sugar balsamic sauce using a slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lb pork shoulder, trimmed
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the pork in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the pork is easily shredded.
  5. Remove the pork and shred it using two forks.
  6. Return the shredded pork to the sauce and stir to coat.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, remove the liquid from the slow cooker after cooking and simmer it on the stovetop until reduced.
  • This pork is excellent served over rice or mashed potatoes.
