A classic and easy shrimp cocktail recipe with a tangy sauce.
Ingredients

- 1.5 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup prepared horseradish
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with water and add the lemon halves. Bring to a boil.
- Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until pink and opaque.
- Drain the shrimp and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
- Once cooled, drain the shrimp again and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, horseradish, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the chilled shrimp with the cocktail sauce.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of horseradish to your preference for spice.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of old bay seasoning to the boiling water.
