Description

A simple baked casserole using pierogi and sausage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12 ounces) frozen potato and cheese pierogi
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the pierogi according to package directions until tender. Drain well.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Stir until smooth.
  4. Add the cooked pierogi, sliced sausage, and chopped onion to the soup mixture. Mix gently to coat everything.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
  8. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute smoked sausage with kielbasa or another firm sausage.
  • For a sharper flavor, use a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
  • If you prefer a thinner sauce, add an extra tablespoon or two of milk.
