Description
Simple recipe for cooking tilapia fillets in a pan until golden brown.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tilapia fillets (about 6 oz each)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, for light coating)
Instructions
- Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over both sides of the fillets.
- If using flour, lightly dredge each fillet in the flour, shaking off any excess.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the oil shimmers.
- Carefully place the tilapia fillets in the hot skillet.
- Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until the fish is opaque throughout and easily flakes with a fork.
- Remove the fillets from the skillet and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute lemon juice for half the oil for added flavor.
- Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary to maintain high heat.
