This is the original 1944 recipe for the Mai Tai cocktail, created by Trader Vic.
Ingredients

- 2 ounces 17-year old J. Wray & Nephew Rum
- 1/2 ounce Holland DeKuyper Orange Curaçao
- 1/4 ounce Rock Candy Syrup
- 1/2 ounce French Garnier Orgeat Syrup
- Juice from one fresh lime
Instructions
- Shake all ingredients together with ice.
- Pour into a glass.
- Garnish with a lime shell and mint sprig.
Notes
- The original recipe used 17-year old J. Wray & Nephew Rum, which is no longer available. Use a high-quality aged Jamaican rum as a substitute.
