Ingredients

  • 2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with water. Add the lemon halves and Old Bay seasoning. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add the shrimp to the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
  3. Drain the shrimp and immediately transfer to a bowl filled with ice water to stop the cooking process.
  4. Once the shrimp are chilled, drain again and pat dry with paper towels.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Chill the cocktail sauce until ready to serve.
  7. Arrange the shrimp on a platter or in individual serving glasses. Serve with the chilled cocktail sauce.
