Description
A layered dessert featuring red velvet cake, creamy cheesecake filling, and whipped topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1/4 cup milk
- Red food coloring (optional)
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare red velvet cake according to package directions. Let cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
- Stir in milk until the mixture reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency. Add red food coloring if desired for a more vibrant color.
- Cut the cooled red velvet cake into 1-inch cubes.
- In a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, layer the ingredients: start with a layer of cake cubes, followed by a layer of cheesecake mixture, and then a layer of whipped topping.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of whipped topping.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a few drops of almond extract to the cheesecake mixture.
- Ensure all ingredients for the cheesecake filling are at room temperature for a smoother texture.
- You can use store-bought pound cake or angel food cake if you prefer not to bake the red velvet cake from scratch.
