A flavorful and easy recipe for bang bang shrimp tacos that you will love.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- 8 small corn tortillas
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Chopped cilantro
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
- In another shallow dish, whisk together milk and egg.
- Dip each shrimp first into the milk mixture, then into the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice to make the bang bang sauce.
- Warm the tortillas.
- Assemble the tacos by filling each tortilla with fried shrimp, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cilantro. Drizzle with bang bang sauce.
- Serve immediately with lime wedges.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, add more sriracha.
- You can bake the shrimp instead of frying for a lighter option. Toss coated shrimp with a little oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes.
