Description
A quick and flavorful meat sauce made easily in the Instant Pot.
Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup dry red wine (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Set the Instant Pot to ‘Sauté’ mode. Add olive oil.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion, carrots, and celery to the pot. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, and red wine (if using). Stir well to combine.
- Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir again.
- Secure the lid and set the vent to ‘Sealing’.
- Cook on Manual/Pressure Cook setting on High pressure for 15 minutes.
- Once cooking is complete, allow for a Natural Pressure Release (NPR) for 10 minutes, then carefully perform a Quick Release (QR) for any remaining pressure.
- Stir the sauce before serving over your favorite pasta.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of ground beef and ground pork.
- You can add a bay leaf during pressure cooking and remove it before serving.
