Description
A simple recipe for making Mexican pizza at home using tortillas and ground beef.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 1 cup refried beans, warmed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup salsa
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Place four tortillas on the baking sheet. Spread an even layer of refried beans over each tortilla.
- Top the beans with a layer of the cooked ground beef mixture.
- Place the remaining four tortillas on top of the beef layer.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the tortillas are slightly crisp.
- Remove from the oven. Sprinkle shredded cheese, black olives, and salsa over the top layer.
- Return to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes, until the cheese melts.
- Slice into wedges and serve with sour cream, if desired.
Notes
- You can use pre-cooked shredded chicken instead of ground beef for a different flavor.
- Bake the tortillas separately for 5 minutes before adding toppings for extra crispness.
