This spooky Halloween Boo-Berry Lemonade features a vibrant purple hue and a sweet, tart flavor, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
- 3 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Gummy worms or plastic spiders for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until blueberries have burst and sauce has thickened slightly.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
- Strain the blueberry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
- In a large pitcher, combine the blueberry syrup, fresh lemon juice, and 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired, adding more sugar or lemon juice if needed.
- Chill the lemonade for at least 1 hour before serving.
- Serve over ice cubes, garnished with gummy worms or plastic spiders if desired.
Notes
- For a deeper color, you can add a drop or two of purple food coloring.
- This lemonade can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For an adult version, add a splash of vodka or gin.
