Description

A simple, one-pan meal featuring ground turkey and shredded cabbage cooked together.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 head green cabbage, thinly sliced (about 4 cups)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground turkey to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the sliced cabbage and chicken broth to the skillet.
  6. Cover the skillet and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender. Stir occasionally.
  7. Remove the lid and cook for 2 more minutes to allow any remaining liquid to evaporate slightly.
  8. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce with the broth.
  • You can substitute ground chicken or lean ground beef for the turkey.
