Description

A quick and simple stir fry recipe featuring ground beef and fresh broccoli in a savory sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water to make the sauce. Set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  4. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir fry for 3 to 5 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat. Serve immediately over cooked rice.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • For a spicier flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger.
