Description
A quick and simple stir fry recipe featuring ground beef and fresh broccoli in a savory sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water to make the sauce. Set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir fry for 3 to 5 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
- Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Serve immediately over cooked rice.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
- For a spicier flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger.
