Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (e.g., Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda, chilled (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the sliced orange, sliced apple, cranberries, and cinnamon stick to the pitcher.
  3. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. When ready to serve, stir the sangria well.
  5. Pour the sangria into glasses filled with ice. If desired, top each glass with a splash of chilled sparkling water or club soda.
