Description
A simple recipe for making fresh strawberry milk quickly.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the strawberries soften, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and mash the strawberries lightly with a fork or potato masher.
- Let the strawberry mixture cool for 10 minutes.
- Strain the strawberry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a glass, pressing on the solids to extract the syrup. Discard the solids.
- Stir the vanilla extract into the strawberry syrup.
- Pour the milk into the glass with the syrup.
- Stir well to combine and serve immediately over ice if desired.
Notes
- Adjust sugar amount based on the sweetness of your strawberries.
- For a thicker milk, use less water or add a small amount of cornstarch slurry during cooking.
- You can blend the cooked strawberries instead of mashing for a smoother syrup.
