Description
A simple recipe for refreshing strawberry lemonade made from scratch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes for serving
Instructions
- Combine strawberries and sugar in a saucepan with 1 cup of water.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the strawberries soften, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Pour the strawberry mixture into a blender and blend until smooth.
- Strain the strawberry puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, pressing on the solids to extract all liquid. Discard the solids.
- Stir in the fresh lemon juice and the remaining 3 cups of cold water.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed by adding more sugar dissolved in a little hot water, or more lemon juice.
- Chill thoroughly before serving over ice.
Notes
- For a stronger strawberry flavor, let the puree sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before straining.
- If you prefer a less sweet drink, start with 3/4 cup of sugar and adjust.
