Description
A simple recipe for making fresh oat milk at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon sweetener (optional, e.g., maple syrup or dates)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Combine rolled oats and water in a blender.
- Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds until smooth. Do not over-blend, as this can make the milk slimy.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or a nut milk bag into a bowl or pitcher. Squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
- If desired, stir in sweetener and vanilla extract.
- Pour into an airtight container and refrigerate.
Notes
- Homemade oat milk will separate; shake well before each use.
- It is best consumed within 3-5 days.
- Avoid using steel-cut oats or instant oats for this recipe.
