Description

A simple recipe for tender chicken cooked in a slow cooker with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Place chicken in the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, and pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours.
  5. Remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred or keep whole.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water to make a slurry.
  7. Stir the slurry into the remaining sauce in the slow cooker.
  8. Cook on high for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  9. Return the chicken to the slow cooker and toss to coat with the thickened sauce.
  10. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Serve this dish over rice or with steamed vegetables.
  • For a thicker sauce, increase the cornstarch slightly.
