Description
Recipe for making crispy chicken wings coated in a lemon pepper buffalo sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
- 1/4 cup lemon juice, fresh squeezed
- 2 tablespoons lemon pepper seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. This step helps achieve crispiness.
- In a large bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- While the wings bake, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Once the butter is melted, remove the pan from the heat. Whisk in the hot sauce, lemon juice, lemon pepper seasoning, and garlic powder until well combined.
- Place the hot, crispy wings into a large bowl. Pour the sauce over the wings and toss gently until every piece is coated.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can briefly place the wings under the broiler for the last 2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- If you prefer a milder sauce, reduce the amount of hot sauce slightly.
