Simple recipe for baked cauliflower bites coated in a sweet and tangy orange glaze.

- 1 large head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup orange juice, fresh squeezed preferred
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons cold water (slurry)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, toss the cauliflower florets with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Spread the seasoned cauliflower in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- While the cauliflower bakes, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Whisk the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
- Remove the cauliflower from the oven. Pour half of the orange sauce over the hot cauliflower and toss gently to coat.
- Return the coated cauliflower to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, until crispy.
- Remove from the oven and immediately toss the hot cauliflower with the remaining orange sauce until fully coated. Serve warm.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can lightly dust the florets with flour before tossing with oil.
- You can substitute maple syrup for brown sugar in the sauce if desired.
