Description
A simple recipe for rich, creamy garlic Alfredo sauce served over pasta.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fettuccine pasta
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Cook the fettuccine pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.
- While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat.
- If the sauce is too thick, add the reserved pasta water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best melting quality.
- For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce.
