- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter, softened (for swirl)
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (for swirl)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for swirl)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil, eggs, pumpkin puree, and milk until combined.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Prepare the swirl filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Pour half of the pumpkin batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Dollop the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter.
- Top with the remaining pumpkin batter. Use a knife to gently swirl the layers together.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the glaze: Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.
Notes
- Use canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
- For a thicker swirl, chill the butter for the filling slightly before mixing.
- If the top browns too quickly during baking, loosely cover it with aluminum foil.
