- 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine (like Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 1 cup pomegranate juice
- 1/4 cup brandy or Grand Marnier
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (like Triple Sec)
- 1/2 cup sliced oranges
- 1/2 cup sliced apples
- 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 star anise
- 2 tablespoons sugar (optional, for sweetness)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, pomegranate juice, brandy, and orange liqueur.
- Add the sliced oranges, sliced apples, pomegranate seeds, cinnamon stick, and star anise.
- If you prefer a sweeter sangria, stir in the sugar until dissolved.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, stir the sangria well.
- Serve over ice, ensuring each glass gets some of the fruit and spices.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, use non-alcoholic red wine and a mix of cranberry and pomegranate juice.
- Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less sugar.
- You can substitute other fruits like cranberries or pears.
