- 4 cups apple cider
- 1 cup cranberry juice
- 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 whole star anise
- Sparkling water or club soda, to serve
- Apple slices and fresh cranberries, for garnish
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine apple cider, cranberry juice, fresh cranberries, cinnamon stick, and star anise.
- Heat gently over medium heat until warm, but do not boil.
- Let the mixture steep for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Strain the mixture to remove the solids.
- Chill the spritzer base thoroughly in the refrigerator.
- To serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour the chilled spritzer base about two-thirds full.
- Top with sparkling water or club soda.
- Garnish with apple slices and fresh cranberries.
Notes
- For a sweeter drink, add a tablespoon of maple syrup or honey when heating the cider.
- You can prepare the spritzer base a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
- Adjust the amount of sparkling water to your preference for fizziness.
