Description

Simple recipe for crispy baked cauliflower florets coated in barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Slowly whisk in the cold water until you have a smooth batter, similar to pancake batter.
  4. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, letting excess drip off.
  5. Place the battered florets on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. In a small bowl, mix the BBQ sauce with the olive oil.
  8. Brush or toss the partially cooked cauliflower with the BBQ sauce mixture.
  9. Return the cauliflower to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the sauce is slightly caramelized and the edges are crisp.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can bake the plain battered florets for 10 minutes before the first sauce application.
  • Use a thicker BBQ sauce for better coating.
