Description
Simple recipe for baked meatballs featuring chicken, Parmesan cheese, and marinara sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overmix.
- Roll the mixture into uniform balls, about 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get about 16 to 18 meatballs.
- Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top of the sauced meatballs.
- Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the meatballs are cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit or 74 degrees Celsius).
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- You can use panko breadcrumbs for a slightly crispier texture.
- If you prefer, you can use store-bought meatball mix instead of mixing the seasonings yourself.
